Killucan and Mullingar Shamrocks were the big winners after the final round of group games of this year’s Shay Murtagh SFC. Both sides enjoyed easier than expected wins in their respective games against Athlone and Garrycastle to take the direct route to the last four.

The most amazing stat after round three is that three of last year’s four semi-finalists have yet to record a win this year. Beaten finalists St Loman’s recorded their third straight defeat when going down 1-9 to 0-9 to Killucan.

On Saturday in Moate at 6pm Coralstown/Kinnegad will be hoping to get their first win of the campaign when they take on Tubberclare. Having disposed of the services of Colm Coyle as manager, Kinnegad will be out to prove a point and look capable of collecting both points on offer.
